On May 19, authorities confirmed the arrest of Miss Grand International Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien in connection with a high-profile fiber supplement fraud probe. Once hailed as a national beauty icon, Thuy Tien now faces criminal investigation for her involvement in marketing and profiting from a product falsely advertised as healthy and effective.

MISS GRAND INTERNATIONAL NGUYEN THUC THUY TIEN’S DIRECT INVOLVEMENT IN THE KERA SUPPLEMENT SCANDAL

Thùy Tiên is not just a brand ambassador. She is a founding shareholder of Chị Em Rọt Company, which directly manufactures and distributes Kera candy products. According to official statements, she was involved in the company’s operations, contributed 30% of the capital, and received nearly VND 7 billion in commissions from selling over 135,000 boxes within just a few months.
In connection with the case, the Criminal Investigation Agency (C01) has prosecuted the following individuals:
Nguyễn Phạm Hồng Vy – Director and legal representative of Asia Life Joint Stock Company
Phạm Thị Diễm Trinh – Head of the Research and Product Development Department
Trương Thị Lê – Head of Quality Assurance and Head of Quality Control
Trần Thị Lệ Thu – Head of Production
The above individuals are being investigated for the crime of “Producing counterfeit food products” under Clause 3, Article 193 of the Penal Code.
According to the 2015 Penal Code (amended in 2017), Thùy Tiên may be prosecuted for “Deceiving customers”, as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 198 of the Penal Code. If it is determined that the offense was organized, involved substantial profits, and posed a risk to the community, the sentence could range from a monetary fine to 1–5 years of imprisonment, and she may also be required to return all illicit earnings.
Among the accused, Trinh and Thu have been temporarily detained; meanwhile, Vy (who is caring for a child under 36 months) and Lê (who is pregnant) have been released on bail in accordance with the law.
Previously, on April 3rd, C01 temporarily detained Nguyễn Thị Thái Hằng (also known as Hằng Du Mục, Chairwoman of Chị Em Rọt Company), Phạm Quang Linh (also known as Quang Linh Vlogs, Board Member), along with two other individuals, for investigation on the charge of “Deceiving customers.”
Nguyễn Phong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asia Life Joint Stock Company, is being investigated for the crime of “Producing counterfeit food products” under Article 193 of the Penal Code.
THE THÙY TIÊN CASE: A SEVERE WARNING FOR KOLs
